FACTS AND INFORMATIONGEOGRAPHY The country is 52,000 square miles of which, Lake Nicaragua, the largest Lake in Central America , covers 5,067 squares miles.CLIMATE Nicaragua has a tropical climate, alternating between two seasons: rainy and dry called winter and summer respectively. The weather is warm all year around so Nicaragua is often called "The Land of Eternal Summer," with average temperatures in the 80's. The warmest mouths are March , April and May with temperatures in 90īs.POPULATIONThe "Nicas" are friendly people and working people, with  matriarchal society. The country is multi-ethnic with Catholicism being the predominant religion followed by Evangelism. Nicaragua has 4 million inhabitants.GOVERNMENT AND CAPITALThe general election in 1990 established a democratic government in Nicaragua.  Managua is the capital of the country and the seat of the government. About 27 percent of the nationīs entire population lives in and around Managua. At least 1.5 million people live in Managua.LANGUAGESpanish is the official language. On the Caribbean coast English is the main language, also several Indian dialects are spoken such as Miskito, Sumo and Rama. ENTRY REQUIREMENTSTravelers  are required to have a passport with six mouthīs validity after date of entry and return or flight ticket. If nationality requires a visa, a tourist card must be purchased for USD$ 5.00 on arrival, entitling the travelers to a 30 days of stay.
